Head in the Game: Pediatric Concussion from Sidelines to Recovery

OAFP Scientific Assembly

This session equips providers with the essential knowledge for managing pediatric concussions. It will cover the neurometabolic basis of concussion, tools for assessment on the sidelines and in the clinic setting, and the importance of recognizing persistent post-concussion symptoms. Attendees will learn about second impact syndrome, and information on including return-to-play and return-to-learn guidelines. The session also addresses managing recurrent concussion and clearance for patients with prior structural TBI. Practical resources for evidence-based concussion care will be shared, with the emphasized importance of multidisciplinary care for patients for optimal recovery.
