Sharon Smallwood, MD

Dr. Sharon Cutler Smallwood, M.D. is a Family Medicine physician currently employed by Cherokee Nation Health Services and also serves as both the Hospital Medical Director for W. W. Hastings Indian Hospital and the Medical Director of Quality Management.
A Virginia native, Dr. Smallwood obtained her Bachelor’s and Masters of Science in Chemistry from the College of William and Mary and Virginia Commonwealth University, respectively. She received her medical degree from the University Of Oklahoma College Of Medicine where she also trained and successfully completed a residency in Family Medicine in 2000.
At the conclusion of her residency training, Dr. Smallwood elected to remain in Oklahoma and worked in Primary Care for hospital-based and private medical practices until 2009 when she became employed by the Cherokee Nation Health System.
She currently serves as the President of the Tulsa County Medical Society and plays an active role in the Oklahoma State Medical Association. Her passion for Quality Management has given her unique insight and a dedicated devotion to encouraging other physician leaders to practice consistently safe medicine utilizing best practice quality measures.
Dr. Smallwood resides in Broken Arrow with her family and is a proud member of the Alpha Chi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated where she serves as Parliamentarian. When able, she enjoys chasing her grandsons, shopping, reading a good book, and volunteering in the community.
