Rick Mooney, MD
Dr. Richard Mooney, M.D. is a subspecialist in Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery at OU Health in Oklahoma City. Dr. Mooney has been in practice for nearly 30 years and is a pioneer in this subspecialty. He was among the first 736 board certified urogynecologists in the United States, which places him among the most experienced practicing urogynecologists in the country. Before joining OU Health, Dr. Mooney established and led the first regional continence center in North California which was among the busiest centers in the state.
Dr. Mooney earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical School in Houston, TX. He completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX and a fellowship in pelvic reconstruction and urogynecology from Women’s Hospital of Texas in Houston, TX.
Dr. Mooney is an active member in many national organizations and has served on numerous national committees that have helped shape the subspecialty of urogynecology. A highlight of his involvement with the American Urogynecologic Society is chairing the Private Practice Special Interest Group for its first two years.
Dr. Mooney is happy to have returned to Oklahoma where he grew up and looks forward to dedicating the remaining years of his practice to caring for his fellow Oklahomans and teaching the next generation of physicians.
