Technology in Healthcare: A Mixed Blessing

Technology in healthcare continues to evolve faster than our ability to adapt.  By understanding the limitations of technology, we can improve patient safety, outcomes and expectations.  Technology is a mixed blessing because while it can bring many improvements to care, it also can increase risk.  There is a steep learning curve associated with any new technology but in healthcare, it can come at the patients’ expense.  This presentation will analyze malpractice claims data, common errors and challenges in deploying new technology in healthcare.  We will focus on risk mitigation strategies that prevent errors before they happen, and reduce risk to patients and providers and improve both patient safety and outcomes.
