RISE-OK Project: Implementing Tribally-Engaged Lung Cancer Screening and Reducing Opioid Use in Seniors
This course offers a comprehensive examination of essential strategies and best practices for improving community health through targeted screening and patient-centered care. Participants will explore the effectiveness of low-dose CT lung cancer screening (LCS) programs in rural health settings, translating emerging evidence into clinical practice to boost LCS rates. The course covers the planning and implementation of LCS programs, addressing key barriers and facilitators to ensure success.
Additionally, the course delves into the primary care practice needs for managing non-cancer chronic pain among older adults. It highlights the findings from RISE-OK practice assessments and demonstrates how to incorporate goal-setting conversations into primary care interactions to better prioritize and address patient needs. Through a review of semi-structured interviews with older adults, participants will gain insights into patient-centered care strategies, ensuring that chronic pain management is both effective and compassionate.
