The Intersectionality of Being Black and Queer in Oklahoma

This presentation dives into the world of sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI) and its connection to healthcare. We’ll begin by defining key terms like sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression. Next, we’ll explore the specific health disparities faced by lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) communities. These disparities can include higher rates of mental health conditions, certain cancers, and sexually transmitted infections. Social determinants of health, the social and economic factors impacting well-being, play a significant role.
