Syeachia Dennis, MD, MPH, FAAFP
Dr. Dennis is a 4-generation Oklahoman. She received her B.A. at Wellesley College in psychobiology and obtained her M.D. at Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine. After this she trained in Chicago in the specialty of family medicine. She moved back to Oklahoma in 2009 and started her first job at Morton Comprehensive Health Services as a family physician in North Tulsa. During this time, she obtained her MPH from Johns Hopkins School of Public Health. She was an associate professor at the OU-TU School of Community Medicine from 2013-2023 and spent her career there working in partnership with community and educational leaders on the goal of achieving health equity for those marginalized in society. She is a leader on strategies to increase the knowledge of the structural and social determinants of health negatively impacting populations in Oklahoma. She has presented nationally and internationally on historical trauma, teaching social determinants of health in graduate medical education and published on teaching about social determinants of health to healthcare professional students. She is the co-founder of Kindred Health Equity Partners. She started a new position in August 2023 at the Chief Medical Officer of Humana Healthy Horizons of Oklahoma.
